Vestlyd Vinyl Setup – Turntable, Active Speakers and Stands

Three Vestlyd pieces that were drawn for each other, in one order: the Pro T1 direct-drive turntable, a pair of M8C Active coaxial power monitors and the M-Stands they bolt to. The turntable plugs straight into the speakers, so there is no amplifier, receiver or separate phono stage to buy or match. At Soundium this is the shortest route from an empty room to a working vinyl system.

In This Setup

  • Vestlyd Pro T1 – quartz-controlled direct-drive turntable with a pre-mounted Ortofon OM Pro S cartridge and built-in RIAA preamp. Black or Silver.
  • Vestlyd M8C Active (pair) – 8-inch coaxial active speakers, 4 x 75 W Class D, RCA with switchable phono MM stage, HDMI eARC, Bluetooth 5.1. Black synthetic leather or Oak.
  • Vestlyd M-Stands (pair) – 52.5 cm floor stands that screw into the M8C cabinet, with cable routing through the column. Black.

Why This Combination

  • No amplifier to match: every M8C driver has its own Class D channel, and the pair arrives already matched to itself.
  • Coaxial driver at ear height: the M-Stands lift the 8-inch coaxial to seated listening height and lock the cabinet to a heavy base instead of a resonating sideboard.
  • Cables disappear: mains and link cables run inside the stand column, not down the back.
  • More than vinyl: TV over HDMI eARC, phone over Bluetooth, laptop over USB-C, all from the same remote.
  • Finishes that match: Black or Silver deck, Black or Oak speakers, Black stands. The photo follows your selection.

Quick Specs

  • Turntable: direct drive, 33 / 45 / 78 rpm, ±8 % pitch, Ortofon OM Pro S (MM), built-in RIAA, 45 x 36.7 cm footprint
  • Speakers: active 2-way coaxial, 4 x 75 W PWM Class D, 36 Hz - 24 kHz (-6 dB), 1-inch titanium dome tweeter
  • Speaker inputs: HDMI eARC, XLR/6.35 mm combo, optical, USB-C, RCA line/phono MM, Bluetooth 5.1 (aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, AAC)
  • Stands: 52.5 cm high, 20 kg load per stand, screw mounting into the cabinet
  • Speaker on stand: approx. 97 cm total height

In the Box

  • Vestlyd Pro T1 with Ortofon OM Pro S, dust cover, felt slip mat, single adapter, RCA cable, power supply
  • 2 x Vestlyd M8C Active, power cable (3 m), speaker cable (5 m), USB-C cable (1.5 m), remote control
  • 2 x Vestlyd M-Stands, mounting screws, hex key

Good to Know

The Pro T1 has a built-in RIAA preamp and the M8C RCA input has its own switchable phono MM stage. Use one of the two, not both: either run the deck into the RCA input set to line, or set it to phono and bypass the turntable stage.

Each piece ships in its own retail box and is also sold separately at Soundium. The setup price is simply lower than the three bought one by one, and the finish you pick here is the finish that arrives.

Full range. No subwoofer.

Full range. No subwoofer.

A direct-drive Vestlyd deck, a pair of 8-inch coaxial Power Monitors reaching below 40 Hz, and the stands they were drawn for.

This is the larger of the two Vestlyd vinyl sets, for rooms where a compact pair would be working too hard. The M8C Active puts an 8-inch coaxial driver and four Class D amplifier channels in each cabinet and reaches 36 Hz on its own, so nothing sits in the corner. The Pro T1 arrives with its RIAA stage built in and an Ortofon OM Pro S fitted, and the M-Stands bolt the speakers to a solid base with the cables routed inside.

  • No amplifier or subwoofer needed
  • 4 x 75 W Class D per pair
  • 8-inch coaxial driver
  • Output down to 36 Hz
  • Cables hidden in the stands

Vestlyd Pro T1

A quartz-controlled direct-drive deck with DJ manners and a hi-fi output. The S-shaped aluminium arm has a detachable headshell and an Ortofon OM Pro S already fitted, and the RIAA stage is built in, so the deck can feed a line input on its own. Pitch control, anti-skating and needle illumination come with the territory.

  • Direct drive with a quartz-controlled DC motor at 33, 45 and 78 rpm
  • Built-in RIAA preamp, so no separate phono box is needed
  • Ortofon OM Pro S moving-magnet cartridge, pre-mounted
  • S-shaped 9.05 in aluminium arm with a detachable headshell
  • 935 g rubber-damped aluminium platter, pitch control plus or minus 8%

The speakers

Vestlyd M8C Active

An 8-inch coaxial Power Monitor: the 1-inch titanium dome compression tweeter sits inside the woofer motor, which also loads it like a horn. Four PWM Class D channels drive the pair, one per driver, and dual front ports take the response to 36 Hz at -6 dB, which is subwoofer territory from the main speakers. The rear panel carries HDMI eARC, a combo XLR/jack, optical, USB-C and an RCA input that switches to MM phono.

  • 4 x 75 W of PWM-driven Class D, one channel per driver
  • 8-inch paper coaxial woofer with a 1-inch titanium dome compression tweeter
  • 36 Hz - 24 kHz at -6 dB from dual front ports
  • HDMI eARC, XLR/6.35 mm combo, optical, USB-C and RCA line or MM phono

The stands

Vestlyd M-Stands

Vestlyd drew these stands around its own M-series cabinets. They screw into the speaker rather than merely holding it, so stand and speaker behave as one mass, and they set the coaxial driver at 52.5 cm, which is near ear height for a seated listener. The column and base are routed for cable, so the mains and link cables an active speaker needs disappear inside the stand.

  • 52.5 cm fixed height, matched to the M6C and M8C
  • Screw fastening into the speaker cabinet, hex key and screws supplied
  • Top plate 19.2 x 22.2 cm on solid metal plates
  • Integrated cable routing through column and base
  • 20 kg load capacity per stand, against roughly 12.1 kg per M8C cabinet

Setting it up

  1. Bolt each M8C Active to an M-Stand with the supplied screws and hex key, and feed the cables through the column before you stand it up.
  2. Place the pair clear of the corners, with the Pro T1 on a separate level surface away from the speakers.
  3. Run RCA from the Pro T1 into the speakers' RCA input and set that input to line: the Pro T1 already has its own RIAA stage.
  4. Give both cabinets mains power and join them with the supplied link cable.
  5. Pick the music or neutral voicing on the remote, set the volume low and lower the stylus.

Questions

Do I need an amplifier?

No. Each M8C Active cabinet holds four Class D amplifier channels, one per driver, so the speakers are the system.

Do I need a phono stage for the Pro T1?

No. The Pro T1 has a built-in RIAA preamp. Because the speakers also have a switchable MM phono input, set their RCA input to line so the signal is only equalised once.

Are the speakers sold as a pair?

Yes. The M8C Active is supplied as a stereo pair, with the amplifier in each cabinet.

Do the stands fit these speakers?

They were designed for them. The M-Stands screw into the M6C and M8C cabinets, hold 20 kg per stand and set the driver at 52.5 cm.

Can I connect a television?

Yes, over HDMI eARC with a single cable, and the speakers wake automatically on every input except Bluetooth and phono.

Does the Pro T1 play 78 rpm records?

Yes. It runs 33, 45 and 78 rpm, and the headshell is detachable if you want a dedicated 78 stylus.

What can I plug in besides a turntable?

HDMI eARC, an XLR or 6.35 mm jack on the combo input, optical, USB-C from a computer, and Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX HD, aptX Low Latency and AAC.

Do I need a subwoofer?

Not for most rooms. The M8C reaches 36 Hz at -6 dB from its own ports, and there is a sub output if you want more.
