Vestlyd M6C Active – Coaxial Power Monitors That Need Nothing Else

The Vestlyd M6C Active takes the 1970s power-monitor idea and rebuilds it with four independent Class D amplifiers inside the cabinet. There is no receiver to buy, no amp to match, no rack to fill: you plug a source into the rear panel and the pair plays. At Soundium it sits in the compact end of the active hi-fi shelf, for people who want a real 6.5-inch coaxial monitor sound in a room where a floorstander would be too much.

Key Features

  • 4 x 75 W of Class D power: One PWM Class D amplifier channel per driver, not two amps split across the pair, for tighter control and headroom that holds up when you push it.
  • 6.5-inch coaxial Power Monitor design: The 1-inch titanium dome compression tweeter sits inside the paper woofer motor, so both drivers reach you time-aligned from a single point.
  • Bass down to 43 Hz: Dual front ports and a sealed-in amplifier let a compact cabinet reach low without a subwoofer.
  • HDMI eARC for the TV: One cable to the television, with automatic power-up on every input except Bluetooth and phono.
  • Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX HD, aptX Low Latency and AAC: Up to 24-bit/192 kHz resolution over wireless.
  • Pro and analogue inputs: XLR/6.35 mm combo, RCA with switchable phono MM stage, optical digital and USB-C for a computer.
  • Three voicings plus tone control: Music, film and neutral profiles, with left/right assignment and bass and treble trim on the rear buttons.
  • Sub out and 35 mm pole socket: Add a subwoofer if you want more, or put the pair on stands or a pole.

Customer Benefits

An active pair removes the part of hi-fi that most people find tiring: matching an amplifier to a speaker, working out how much power is enough, running speaker cable across a room. The M6C Active arrives already matched to itself. A turntable goes straight into the phono input, a TV into HDMI eARC, a laptop into USB-C, a phone over Bluetooth, and the remote handles the rest from the sofa. Because each driver has its own amplifier, the sound stays clean at volumes where a small passive pair on a modest amp would already be flattening out.

Use Cases / Ideal For

Living rooms and apartments where the system has to be two boxes and nothing more. Desk and near-field listening, where the coaxial driver keeps imaging stable up close. Vinyl setups that need a phono input without a separate preamp. Television and gaming through HDMI eARC. Small studio and home-office monitoring, using the neutral voicing.

Compatibility

  • Turntables: Moving-magnet cartridges connect directly to the RCA input set to phono; moving-coil needs an external step-up.
  • Televisions: Any TV with an HDMI ARC or eARC port.
  • Computers: USB-C audio, plus optical for consoles and streamers.
  • Stands: Vestlyd M-Stands, or any stand and 35 mm pole with a flat top plate.
  • Subwoofers: Any powered subwoofer with a line-level input, via the sub out.

Pros & Cons

✅ Pros:

  • Four discrete amplifier channels rather than the usual two
  • Genuine 43 Hz bass from a compact cabinet
  • Input list covers TV, turntable, computer and phone without extra boxes
  • Coaxial driver gives a wide, forgiving sweet spot

⚠️ Cons:

  • Mains power needed at both speakers, and a link cable between them
  • No Wi-Fi streaming or multi-room app

The M6C Active is the smaller of the two Vestlyd Power Monitors, and the one to pick when the room is normal-sized and the wall behind the speakers is closer than you would like. Pair it with the Vestlyd Pro T1 turntable and a set of M-Stands and the whole system is three purchases deep. You will find it at Soundium in Black and Oak, sold as a stereo pair.
