Scarlett 16i16 Vocal Set – The SM7B on a Desk That Can Grow

The broadcast dynamic that ignores the room, on a boom arm rated for its weight, into a 16-in/16-out interface with 69 dB of preamp gain. Closed headphones for monitoring, and ADAT, S/PDIF and MIDI waiting for the next piece of gear.

In This Setup

• Focusrite Scarlett 16i16 4th Gen – 16-in/16-out USB-C interface with two 69 dB Scarlett preamps, Auto Gain, Clip Safe and Air modes, ADAT, S/PDIF and MIDI I/O, loopback and two independent headphone outputs.
• Shure SM7B – the broadcast dynamic: cardioid, 50 Hz-20 kHz, bass roll-off and presence boost switches, internal air-suspension shock isolation and the A7WS windscreen.
• Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro X – closed-back STELLAR.45 headphones at 48 ohms, so they run loud from an interface; detachable mini-XLR cable, made in Germany.
• Rode PSA1 – parallelogram studio boom arm with internal springs; desk clamp and desk insert included, rated for 700 g-1.1 kg.

Why This Combination

• Gain for a low-output mic: the SM7B needs plenty of clean gain; the 16i16 preamps offer 69 dB.
• Rated for the weight: the PSA1 carries 700 g-1.1 kg; the SM7B weighs about 765 g and mounts by its own yoke.
• Room for more: ADAT, S/PDIF and MIDI for the next preamp or synth.

Set price includes all four products; XLR cable sold separately.
