FiiO AIR AMP – Streaming hi-fi in one small box

The AIR AMP is a palm-sized streaming amplifier for anyone who wants passive speakers back in the game without a rack of separates. A network player, an ESS DAC and a 120 W-per-channel Class D output stage share one 207 mm chassis, so a pair of bookshelves, a power lead and a Wi-Fi connection are the whole system. It is the most complete one-box hi-fi FiiO has built so far, and it is available at Soundium.

Key Features

  • Roon Ready, AirPlay and QPlay: Cast lossless audio from a phone, Mac or Roon core over the network.
  • 120 W + 120 W into 4 Ω: A Texas Instruments TPA3255 output stage with real headroom for bookshelf speakers.
  • Post-filter feedback (PFFB): Feedback taken after the output filter keeps distortion low and frequency response steady across speaker impedances.
  • ESS ES9020Q DAC with XMOS XU316: USB audio to 768 kHz/32-bit and native DSD512, plus full MQA decoding.
  • Seven inputs, three outputs: USB, optical, coaxial, line in, Bluetooth, network and USB storage feeding speaker terminals, sub out and line out.
  • 10-band parametric EQ: Tune the system by room and speaker from the FiiO Control app or the web interface.

Customer Benefits

Most compact streaming amps ask you to choose between connectivity and power. The AIR AMP does neither: gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi handle streaming, a full set of digital and analogue inputs covers a turntable preamp, a TV or a laptop, and the TPA3255 stage has enough current to control real loudspeakers rather than politely nudging them. Local libraries play straight from a NAS or a USB drive, so a network share becomes a source without a computer in the chain. The subwoofer output turns the same setup into a 2.1 system, and the included IR remote means you are not reaching for a phone to change volume.

Quick Specs

What's in the Box

  • AIR AMP streaming amplifier
  • IR remote control
  • 48V/5A power adapter (DC7909)
  • AC power cord
  • Quick start guide
  • Warranty card

Ideal For

Desktop systems built around bookshelf speakers, living-room setups that replace a soundbar, and NAS or Roon libraries that need an endpoint with amplification built in.

Compatibility

Works with Roon, Apple AirPlay, QPlay and DLNA sources, NAS shares and USB drives, and any passive speaker rated between 4 and 8 Ω.

Pros & Cons

✅ Pros:

  • Roon Ready certification at a price where it is rare
  • Genuine 120 W per channel, not a token output stage
  • Digital, analogue, network and USB storage inputs all in one box
  • Subwoofer and line outputs make it expandable

⚠️ Cons:

  • No HDMI ARC — a TV has to connect over optical
  • The 235 W figure needs a 48V/10A supply that is not included
  • No phono stage, so a turntable needs its own preamp

If you want streaming, decoding and real amplification without a stack of boxes, the AIR AMP is the shortest route there. Find the FiiO AIR AMP in Black or Silver at Soundium.
