IK Multimedia has put its room correction in a box again, and this time the box doesn't need a computer to do the measuring. ARC Studio+ calibrates your monitors and your subwoofer straight from the front panel, then keeps correcting them with no plug-in, no DAW and no laptop in the chain.
ARC has been around since 2007, and the original ARC Studio already moved correction out of the DAW and into hardware. The "+" is about what that first box couldn't do on its own: run a calibration standalone, manage a sub, and take a digital signal without converting it twice.
Plug in the mic, press one button
The included ARC measurement mic has its own input on the back. Plug it in, start a 1- or 3-point calibration from the front panel, and ARC Studio+ reads your speakers, your sub and your room, then corrects the whole system in real time across 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
When you want more, connect ARC X (included) for 7- and 21-point 3D measurements, target-curve editing and virtual speaker auditioning. The finished profile lives in the hardware, so you can close the software and the correction keeps running.
Key Features & Benefits
- Sub management that does the boring part. ARC Studio+ detects a connected subwoofer and aligns gain, crossover, phase and delay during calibration. Any monitors, any sub. Kick and bass stop arguing.
- Digital in, digital out. USB-C audio and optical S/PDIF in and out sit next to balanced XLR/TRS combo inputs, XLR monitor outputs and a dedicated sub out. Digital sources stay digital, with no extra A/D or D/A stage in the path.
- Three Scenes on the front panel. Each one stores a profile, speaker routing, sub on/off and input choice. IK's own suggestion is sensible: mix position, "artist on the couch" position, and a translation-check curve.
- Converters that don't need excuses. 32-bit conversion, 120 dB(A) dynamic range, 0.00011% THD and 1.4 ms latency in Natural Phase mode.
- Correction outside your session. Nothing on the master bus and nothing to forget to bypass before bouncing. It works the same while you record, mix, edit video or just listen.

Who It's For
Anyone mixing in a room that isn't perfect, which is most of us. It makes the most sense if you run a 2.1 system, switch between analog and digital sources, or want the same corrected reference whether the DAW is open or not. Owners of the original ARC Studio or an ARC mic can look at IK's upgrade versions.
Who should look elsewhere: immersive and multichannel rooms. ARC Studio+ is a stereo or 2.1 processor. And if you only ever listen through your DAW, the ARC X software on its own costs less.

Pros & Cons
Pros
- Standalone calibration, no computer needed
- Automatic sub alignment of gain, crossover, phase and delay
- USB-C and optical digital I/O skip extra conversion

Final Thoughts
The original ARC Studio proved that room correction belongs in hardware. ARC Studio+ fixes the parts that still needed a computer or a separate box: calibration, sub integration and digital routing. If your low end has never quite felt trustworthy, this is the one to look at. See the rest of the range in our IK Multimedia ARC series.
